The main problem faced by companies when they start to open up international markets is to create a sales network. The first step is the selection of a good distributor or agent and the second is to negotiate a good contract with them.
On 29th November the Spanish Exporting Manufacturers Association for the Hospitality Industry (AFEHC in its Spanish initials) has organised a seminar on contracts for agents and distributors. The event will be led by Ms Cristina Danón who is a managing partner and consultant at International Team Consulting and an expert on international trade in which she has more than 25 years experience.
Subjects to be covered by the seminar include, amongst others, the differences between agency and distribution contracts, common mistakes to be avoided, customary clauses and the main reasons why relationships between the company and the sales agent break down.
The key to a successful, lasting and mutually beneficial relationship lies in establishing solid foundations which reduce potential conflicts to a minimum.
